Things have been super-busy here at ChronicBabe HQ. Last week, I moved into a new lakeside apartment, migrating my home AND my home office - and settling into a new neighborhood for the first time in approximately 13 years.
Let's just say: It's been a time of intense change.
I also have been struggling with a couple new health diagnoses, which means I've been building relationships with new health care providers and making plans for new self-care routines.
Let's just say, again: It's been a time of intense change.
I also started a couple new consulting gigs, booked a big speaking gig for the summer, and am working on my top-secret ChronicBabe project, which I hope to launch by the summer.
Mmm hmm: A time of intense change.
Why does this matter to you? Because I figured out something that helps make all the tough stuff easier.
Find your respite. Throughout the past few weeks, as I've been overwhelmed by stress, I've celebrated my new lake view. In fact, for the past week or so, I've been blogging about it at my tumblr: The "Be Here Now" Experiment.
Staring out my window at that seemingly endless lake - taking a moment to just breathe - has saved me from more than one panic attack. I'm taking respite in its beauty, its peace, its possibility. Do I still hurt? Yes. Do I still have tons of unpacking to do? Yup. Am I still worried about friends and family who are facing challenging times? You betcha.
But am I more calm and able to manage my own health during this stressful time? Yes! And that's the magic, right there: Find the place, or the thing, or the idea, or the time to get some respite, a reprieve from it all. Even five minutes can help. Trust me on this. It's a simple but powerful idea, and those are kinda my favorites.
P.S.: ChronicBabe staffer (and my BFF) Natalie had a baby two days ago! Finley joins brother Gabriel and papa James to make a lovely family of four. I'm so thrilled that they're part of my family of choice. Please send good thoughts and prayers their way as they also adjust to intense change. Thanks!
