Do you listen?

The Editrix

Your body tells you so much! Sometimes we need to quiet ourselves and listen. A simple strategy for getting in touch with your body is a quick scan: Lie down in a comfortable, quiet spot. Breathe deeply and evenly. Move slowly from your feet to your head, observing the sensations you feel. Acknowledge them. Appreciate the spots that feel good. And then take care of the ones that don’t. Your daily prescription: The body scan.

New today at ChronicBabe.com: Listening to your body

Leah Jones pic

Leah Jones, a friend of Editrix Jenni, recently wrote an honest and moving piece about her experience walking the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. She has a simple yet profound lesson to share about listening to your body —something all Babes, Chronic or not, should respect. Isn’t it fab to have such a great community of women around us?

What's on our plate?

Naot valerie pic

Shoes! Well, not on our plate, but on Editrix Jenni’s feet. On Sunday she reviewed a gorgeous pair of Naot sandals for Barking Dog Shoes, the most awesome source of info on cute, comfortable shoes for Babes with bad feet. Even if Naot didn’t give her the shoes, Jenni would STILL love them and happily shout it from the rooftops. Hurrah!

Fab five: sites we love right now

We Are Fibro
A fellow ChronicBabe recommended this site, and we love it—a great spot for frank, informative conversations about life with fibromyalgia.

Mod Cloth
If you’re looking for funky, indie, or retro fashions at reasonable prices, this is the site for you. We adore the peacock tights—perfect for fall!

Our Stressful Lives
Who wants stress? This site has a ton of tips on coping with stress and minimizing its day-to-day effects (because the last thing we need is stress on top of illness!).

She Writes
If you write (a blog, books, poems, whatever) this is a terrific resource. There are thousands of women sharing information. (Can you tell we’re jazzed about communities?!)

Let’s Talk Pain
Editrix Jenni met one of the creators of this site recently, and she’s a huge fan. If you live with chronic pain (nearly half the U.S. does!) check out this fabulous resource.

TAKE ACTION!

Think about what it means to be a responsible blogger: If you’re curious to know what other bloggers think, check out The Responsibility Project.

Get ready for Invisible Illness Week in September. How will you participate? As a listener to podcasts? As a guest blogger? Or just sharing your story with others? It’s all good.

Give yourself a break. Sometimes you just need to take a few minutes to chill out. Yes, there are always things to do, laundry to be folded, phone calls to be returned…but just take a moment for yourself and relax. You deserve it!
