The Editrix

Every once in a while Editrix Jenni gets the urge to just share some of her favorite things with you, get a little more personal than usual. Today’s one of those days! She’s collected a bunch of awesome stuff for you, and we think this is one issue you’ll come back to over and over again. (And don’t forget: We have an archive of every issue, too!) What’s your favorite thing?

New today at ChronicBabe.com: Want to feel more “frisky?”

Babe in bed

And by frisky we mean, you know, sexy. It’s common for folks with chronic illness to feel less than fabulous, and that can lead to a downturn in the bedroom. Of course, we don’t have ALL the answers, but we have some ideas—four of them, in fact—to help you feel more “in the mood.” They’re simple and flexible, applicable to just about everyone. Give ‘em a shot, Babes!

What's on our plate?

Summerhat175

Summer fun. (Well, if the Chicago weather would cooperate, mutters the Editrix.) We’re still optimistic: a bathing suit’s been purchased, sunscreen found in the bottom of the bathroom drawer, big floppy hat dusted off, and bike tuned up and ready for cruising. We think it’s important to get out there and enjoy this beautiful season as much as possible, no matter your limitations, so get moving, ladies!

What we're up to lately...

We’re celebrating freelance writing successes (did you know Editrix Jenni is a health writer for a wide variety of organizations?)…feeding the fish…taking lots of walks…shooting silly photos…listening to Carmen Warrington guided meditations to help us relax…planning a trip to New Orleans…eating fresh berries…planting flower boxes on the patio…appreciating the benefits of social media…laughing with friends…listening to new music by N.A.S.A.... and enjoying a new iPhone. Hope you’re AWAP (as well as possible)!

Fab five: sites we love right now

FunSherpa
Interesting people are cool. So why not learn more about their quirks and interests? This collection of interviews is ripe with fun ideas.

Slow down and get productive
Yup, you’re reading that right. This list of ways to use time more efficiently and make more happen is very handy. Try even one of them and we think you’ll see results!

TED
Have 10 or 15 minutes? You can spend that amount of time every day listening to a TED talk and learn something profound. Just trust us.

Street Anatomy
We spend a lot of time thinking about our bodies negatively…or at least, burdensome. This site celebrates the body as art and inspires!

SavvySugar
Part of the PopSugar family, this site examines money and women, and offers tons of straight-up advice and tools for all of us. Sweet!

TAKE ACTION!

Think about the way you speak to folks about disability. Michael Gerber recently wrote a terrific article on language for Disaboom.com, which made us think about how we speak (and define ourselves).

Get creative about getting—and giving—help. Trent Reznor and Twitter joined forces to raise money for a music fan in need of a transplant and the results were huge! Try taking this idea and shaping it to your needs—it’s worth a shot, right?!

Connect visually with friends old and new. We’re learning to use Flickr to share more with folks, especially those who don’t live nearby. It’s a creative way to communicate!
