Time to get some ZZZZZZZZZs

The Editrix

Editrix Jenni is sleepy. Between planning new ChronicBabe projects, lobbying for a speaker spot at next year’s SXSW Interactive Festival (more below), juggling multiple freelance writing clients, tackling a book proposal (more details soon!), oh—and handling life with chronic illness—she’s feeling a bit tired lately and looking for ways to get great sleep. She’s sharing a bunch of her favorite resources with YOU this week! So how about you: Have any favorite tips?

New today at ChronicBabe.com:
Dealing with the medical system

New today image

How do you deal? We have about 15 fellow sick chicks writing about their experiences in the recent ChronicBabe Blog Carnival, “How do you deal with the medical establishment?” These women have great tips and tricks, compelling stories, examples of how to do it well (and maybe not so much)…and we even have the perspective of a doc who talks about his patients with chronic illness.

What's on our plate?

On our plate image.

Your chance to help us keep the Forum strong! Ning, our host company, recently changed fee structures and we’re now required to pay a monthly fee. But a t-shirt selling contest can help us pay that off: We just need to sell a couple dozen more to offset the entire annual fee…please buy a t-shirt today! You’ll feel great about chipping in, you’ll look supercute, and you’ll help spread the word to potential ChronicBabes.

Did you know?

Editrix Jenni has a chance to speak at SXSW Interactive 2011, the biggest, awesomest digital technology and media conference around. She plans to talk about how online health communities could be better (Health Communities: Superheroes Who Need a Justice League), and she’ll be looking for ideas from you. But FIRST: she needs your vote to get there! Please take just one minute, register and vote for her…every single vote counts. Thanks Babes!

What we're up to lately...

Oh gosh, what are we NOT up to? Editrix Jenni got a new tattoo (a work in progress; another update to come with new color added!)… cranking on a book proposal and negotiation (we’re DYING to tell you the details!)…eating vietnamese food at a new-to-us restaurant…working with fun new freelance writing clients on projects we’re passionate about…swimming…reminding pals to try Bare Escentuals makeup and skin care , which has kept us looking fresh and fabulous despite stress and lack of sleep… shilling t-shirts to keep the Forum strong… going with our toddler friends to the Field Museum to meet Sue the T. Rex (incredible!)…taking a little downtime for naps…and feeling so thankful for all of you, Babes. Much love!

Fab five: sites we love right now

Sleep Hygiene
The National Sleep Foundation is pretty fab. This article on good sleep hygiene is chock full of practical ideas you can start using tonight to get better sleep.

Sleep Hacker
This video of Matt Bell talking about hacking the sleep/wake cycle is pretty compelling. You may not set up a system like his, but it’s a reminder to think differently about potential solutions.

Memory Foam Pillows
Editrix Jenni adores her memory foam pillows…she even travels with them! They make all the difference in he ability to get great sleep. Why not try one?

Sleep Well Blog
This home-grown site has a ton of tips. We’re loving the wide variety of articles about strategy, plus lots of product recommendations.

Shana Logic sleepwear
OK, maybe it’s not technically sleepwear. But their t-shirts are soooo cute we love to sleep in them. Order a big big size and settle in for the cutest night’s sleep.

TAKE ACTION!

Get a sleep mask and look gorgeous while you sleep deeply. Amazon has a great variety, whether you want plain jane design or something simply fabulous. Get one for home and one for travel, Babes…trust us.

Get more ZZZs to help your work productivity. Unclutterer (one of our fave blogs) writes today about some strategies for getting better sleep and the ramifications for your work quality and fulfillment.

Get eight hours. Seriously, I know it’s not that easy for some of us. But if your big sleep issue is not getting enough, just do it—make the time. Research shows typical women need eight hours of sleep to get the healing time they need to start the day fresh. Make it a priority, Babes…you’re SO worth it!
