Take good care of yourself, sizzlin' sisters!

The Editrix

There's almost nowhere in the U.S. today that's not blazing hot. If you live in one of the heatwave areas, please take good care of yourself. That means hydrate, stay indoors if you can, use air conditioning, and stay in touch with friends and loved ones. When you're already sick, it's easier to get sick from heat - so don't mess around if you feel bad! Head to your nearest emergency room. Whew!

New today at ChronicBabe.com:
Girl Talk for ChronicBabes

Girl Talk for ChronicBabes videos

Over the past couple weeks, I've posted four different Girl Talk for ChronicBabes videos, and this week's is about improving communication with your partner (husband, wife, spouse, etc.). I offer three distinct tips for helping you ask for what you need and get it...while strengthening your relationship in the process. Have a question of your own? Email me or add it in the comments section of one of her videos.

What's on our plate?

On our plate image.

I have a family member who was recently evicted from her apartment after developing a chronic illness from construction waste left in the building's walls. She is currently homeless and looking for resources. I'm gathering information to help her, and also to write a comprehensive piece for the site that can help women in the future. If you have any advice, please get in touch. Thank you so much!

Did you know?

The Homelessness Resource Center has tons of information regarding the burden of chronic illness on the homeless population. They also offer some great resources for folks facing the prospect of homelessness. I urge you to learn more about this problem...and then think about what you can do to help others.

What we're up to lately...

Darn. Did I mention it's hot? I'm sweating an awful lot. Besides that, I'm taking on new freelance communications clients...planning trips to Arkansas and Philadelphia...renewing my passport...eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables...enjoying the help of an intern (but I could use another)...loving my lakeside view...having fun making new videos each week...sunning myself...making fruity cocktails...and feeling oh so thankful for all of you, my fellow ChronicBabes. XOXO!

Fab five: sites we love right now

Cake Health

Like Mint for health care, this site is designed to help you organize and manage all your paperwork and health-related finances. I'm giving this a shot right now. If you've used it and have comments, I'd love to hear them!

Cranky Fitness

Want to turn your crappy day into an awesome one? Want to hear some hilarious health care-related jokes? Want to laugh about stuff? Yay!

Tipping the Pain Scales

If you've ever had to rate yourself on a pain scale, you know they're bogus. Check out this babe's new interpretation.

Samples, Samples & More Samples

Like makeup, nutrition or fitness products? So do I! I love trying out samples. This website has tons of tips on the best sampling programs around.

Good and Lovely

Wish your period didn't suck so much? Me too. This service sends you a package of goodies each month before your period to help you feel better. Makes a great gift, too!

TAKE ACTION!

Ever wonder what resources exist for folks with mental illness? Check out the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). They're freakin' cool.

Ever wonder what it's like to "do it" in a hospital bed? The Smartass Cripple has all the dirty details.

Ever wonder if there's someone across the pond with an equally fabulous newsletter for ChronicBabes? The answer is yes! Check out Jan Sadler's Pain Support newsletter, which I adore.

From a Fabulous Advertiser:

I guess our newsletter just isn't the advertising magnet I thought it would be. I mean, who would want to reach more than 3,500 awesome women living beyond illness? Women with amazing buying power? With exquisite taste? I mean, that's crazy talk. So if I don't have advertisers in the next couple issues, we'll drop this program altogether. Just sayin'.
